Louis Vuitton Foundation Exhibition

Visiting the Louis  Vuitton Foundation in Paris, France, https://www.fondationlouisvuitton.fr/en/fondation, is a truly profound experience. Designed by the legendary architect Frank Gehry, the building itself is a masterpiece. The architecture creates a constant dialogue between indoor and outdoor spaces, light and form, making everything exhibited there feel almost magical.

Right now, the Foundation is hosting one of the largest Alexander Calder exhibitions I have seen, with about 300 works: Calder, Rêver en equilibre” on view from April 15 to August 16, 2026.

What makes this exhibition even more special is the curator’s decision to intersperse Calder’s work with works by other artists of the same era, creating a fascinating dialogue between Calder and his contemporaries.

Visitors can admire the mesmerizing installations from Calder’s Circus series alongside paintings of circus acrobats by Fernand Léger. Further on, Calder’s iconic kinetic mobiles are presented in conversation with works by Joan Miró, while paintings by Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky enrich the visual narrative. Man Ray’s works appear alongside Calder’s monumental sculptural metal installations, bringing the extraordinary artistic spirit of the period vividly to life.

It is an exceptional exhibition-not only of Calder’s genius but of an entire generation of pioneering artists of the 30s.

A must-see for anyone visiting Paris this summer.
